The authors found that each of the six academic complete collections of Skovoroda's works positions itself as having eliminated the significant shortcomings of previous editions. At the same time, the number of stated shortcomings only increased from edition to edition. According to the authors' hypothesis, the very intention to create a complete academic collection of works on a common methodological basis contains an immanent flaw, which gives rise to the aforementioned accumulation of shortcomings. Recognizing the important historical significance of Skovoroda's collections, the authors of the article believe that it is now necessary to begin researching individual manuscript works of Skovoroda as independent artifacts not only of the intellectual, but also of the artistic culture of Ukraine. In this context, the authors propose to link the methods of archaeography of sources with the use of the concept of “physical object.ˮ
